photography Workshops in Brighton, APRIL 2024
Edgy Mono Photography
Saturday 6th April, 1pm - 5.30pm, COMMUNITY BASE, BRIGHTON. £60.00
What and where do we photograph? How do we compose and light it? What colours convert well to make images exciting and engaging and what kit to use? Edgy Monochrome Photography will demonstrate techniques and ideas that help you create dramatic, eye opening, even dark or uncomfortable, black and white images.
We will look at lighting for contrast and detail, tones, simple post-production. You will learn what to shoot and how to shoot it and how to develop your skills, intuition and potential and learn the art how to push digital monochrome to its limits for the most striking and unusual photography.
The presentations will be followed with a photo-walk where you will be tested on these skills and given simple tasks. Later we will have a Zoom review of attendees chosen photographs.
There will be a maximum of 7 people attending and cost £60.

Narrative and Emotion in Photography
Saturday 20th April, 10.30am - 3.30pm, COMMUNITY BASE, BRIGHTON. £60.00
NARRATIVE and EMOTION will look at different story telling techniques and ideas and examine how the basic elements like lighting, colour, framing and composition can alter the pitch, tone and meaning of a photograph, from documentary and reportage to portrait, landscape and street photography.
We will also focus on human emotions, how they feature in our work, how they translate visually and how photographers can use and manipulate them in their storytelling.
The afternoon’s presentations will be followed with a photo-walk in which you will be tested on these skills and later an informal Zoom review in which attendees can profile their selected photographs and comment on others.
There will be a maximum of 6 people attending and cost of £60.00/person.
